About your Therapist:  Steve Brownrigg

     Steve Brownrigg is a Nationally Certified Counselor, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.  Steve received a BSBA, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University in 1978. 

     He began his own recorvery from alcoholism in 1997 and, following years of experience working with addicts and alcoholics at a non-professional level, he returned to school in 2003 and earned a Masters degree in Community Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and completed other educational requirements to obtain a License in Drug & Alcohol Counseling.  He is also Certified in the use of EMDR by EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), a therpeutic tool he uses for the resolution of Trauma and Childhood Issues.

     Steve's major field of specialty is in the treatment of "Co-Occurring Disorders," or those persons challenged by both Substance Abuse/Dependency Disorders as well as other Mental Health Disorders.  Steve draws from a variety of therapeutic disciplines, combining Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused, 12-Step Facilitation, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and other approaches in his work.   Following a year of providing therapy at a local Agency as a Dually-Credentialled Therapist, he opened his Private Practice, Addiction & Recovery Services in 2006.  He is in his fifth year of Private Practice.
